Call it what you will, sometimes things come back at you, whether good or bad. It may be in the actions of others towards you, or in the things that your kids do that bring flashbacks to your own actions. The latter is what happened to me last night.
I was happily going through my day – making snow angels with the kids, playing Zombie (it’s their new favourite!)…and then it was snack time. I doled out the veggies and dip and the phone rang.
“Hey Mom, uh…I’m getting married tonight.”
And it was as if I was taken back to that day, almost 15 years ago when I made pretty much that exact same call to my own mom. The flurry of things going through my heart then didn’t really allow me to see the shock that I know my mother must have been going through. I think the same happened here.
I had a few hours to prepare…finish with the daycare duties, prepare and eat supper….and then a quick clean up of the house, getting the kids dressed…and then it all happened…Stepson came, his fiance came…some friends of theirs, some family (those who could make it on such short notice) and the Sheikh. A little speech, and then whammo! It was done.
So….what did you do last night?

And LOL my sister and me kinda did the exact same thing to my mum. X

Uh…..WHAT??? Just–dropped the bomb like that, huh? And how did you handle this little bit of stress? I hope I get at LEAST a month’s notice when it’s time for my children!! LOL
